Two toddlers drown in Gaibandha pond 

GAIBANDHA, Oct 26: Two two-year-old children drowned in a pond while playing near their homes in Chowdhuripara Village of Taluk Kanupur Union in Gobindaganj Upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased were Abdullah Al Araf, son of Abdur Razzak, and Miftahul Jannat, daughter of Ashraful Islam. They were cousins and were born on the same day.

According to police and local sources, the children were playing near their homes around 10:00am when they fell into a pond unnoticed by their families.

When family members could not find them, they searched the area and later rescued the children from the pond in an unconscious state.

They were rushed to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctors declared them dead.

The deaths of the two children on the same day have cast a pall of grief over Chowdhuripara Village.
