The Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), is observing its 48th founding anniversary on Tuesday, October 27, with a two-day programme featuring political, social and welfare activities across the country.
Founded on October 27, 1978, by BNP founder and then president Ziaur Rahman, Jubo Dal was established to organise the country’s youth and engage them in nation-building and productive activities.
Abul Kashem was the organisation’s first convener and later became its founding president, while Saifur Rahman served as its first general secretary. Abdul Monayem Munna is the current president of the central committee, and Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan is its general secretary.
According to a press release issued by the Jubo Dal central executive committee on October 13, the anniversary programmes will be held on October 27 and 28.
The day’s programme began with the hoisting of the national and party flags at sunrise at the organisation’s central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka, and its offices across the country.
At 11:00am, leaders and activists from the central committee and the Dhaka North and South units are scheduled to place wreaths at the graves of Ziaur Rahman and former prime minister Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in Agargaon, Dhaka, and offer prayers.
A voluntary blood donation programme and a free medical camp are scheduled to be inaugurated at noon on the ground floor of the Jubo Dal central office in Naya Paltan.
Other activities planned across the country include discussion meetings, rallies, public gatherings, tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, fish fry releases and food distribution among underprivileged people.
On Wednesday, October 28, the organisation’s upazila, police station, municipal and subordinate units will hold discussion meetings, rallies, public gatherings, blood donation programmes, free medical camps and other social welfare activities at convenient times.
Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna and General Secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan have urged leaders and activists at all levels to observe the anniversary programmes in a disciplined manner and ensure their successful implementation.
