The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has recovered a foreign-made pistol and two magazines, which were found abandoned in the Adarsha Sadar Upazila of Comilla.
The weapons were seized during an operation conducted on Tuesday morning (October 27) in the Katakbazar area of Adarsha Sadar Upazila.
According to the Comilla Battalion (10 BGB), acting on a tip-off, a patrol team from the Shahapur post, under the jurisdiction of the Bibirbazar Border Outpost (BOP), carried out an operation in the Katakbazar area, located approximately 400 yards inside Bangladeshi territory from the zero line of the border. During the operation, a foreign-made pistol and two magazines were discovered abandoned inside an old plastic sack.
Procedures are currently underway to hand over the recovered items to the Kotwali Model Police Station, where a case under the Arms Act is being filed. Meanwhile, the BGB continues its intelligence efforts to identify those involved in the incident.
The Comilla Battalion regularly conducts operations to prevent all forms of smuggling, including weapons and narcotics, as well as cross-border crimes. The BGB further stated that patrols and intelligence surveillance have been intensified throughout the border region.
