EC appoints 150 authorities to update voter list

The Election Commission (EC) has appointed 150 authorities to oversee the updating of the voter list ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

The officials will perform their duties across 64 districts and cantonment areas of the country, according to a notification signed by Md Abdul Halim Khan, joint secretary of the EC Secretariat.

Under Section 11 of the Voter List Act, 2009, the voter list will be updated to include eligible individuals born on or before October 31, 2008, who are registered or will be registered in the voter database by October 31, 2026.

The appointed officials will settle claims, objections and applications for corrections concerning the draft voter list.

According to the notification, the voter list will be finalised after receiving and disposing of applications using the prescribed forms. Form-6 will be used to submit claims, Form-7 for objections and Form-8 for corrections to voter information.
