Up to 2,000 security personnel for Diljit’s concert

Delhi Police are stepping up security for Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming concert in the Indian capital, with 1,500 to 2,000 private security personnel expected to be deployed alongside strict traffic controls.

Authorities cleared the October 30 event after initially withholding permission and reviewing a revised security plan submitted by the organisers.

The concert at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will mark the launch of Diljit’s Aura India Tour.

According to a report by The Indian Express, the organisers initially proposed deploying 400 security personnel. However, Delhi Police recommended a substantial increase, citing the prospect of a large crowd.

The stadium, which has a capacity of around 55,000 spectators, will require extensive crowd-management measures. Security personnel will be responsible for managing queues, directing visitors to designated entry points, assisting at help desks and ensuring the smooth movement of pedestrians in surrounding areas.

Authorities are also planning additional measures to ease traffic congestion. Organisers have been asked to arrange extra parking facilities, while coordination with ride-hailing services and navigation platforms is planned to designate passenger pick-up and drop-off points.

Under the proposed traffic arrangements, general vehicle movement could be restricted within a radius of 500 to 700 metres of the stadium. Vehicles carrying the artist and those holding special permits may be exempted from the restrictions.

The expanded security deployment and traffic-management plan aim to ensure the concert proceeds safely while minimising disruption for residents and commuters in the surrounding area.
