Twenty-eight police personnel, including cashiers, cooks, and sub-inspectors, have been closed simultaneously for taking unethical benefits beyond their regular salaries and allowances.

The Khulna Range DIG office took this administrative action on Friday, October 30.

The move follows allegations of irregularities and corruption against members serving across various districts and units under the Khulna range, including Khulna, Bagerhat, Jashore, Jhenaidah, Kushtia, and Chuadanga. The list includes personnel from police stations, traffic departments, and intelligence branches.

Analysts point out that despite increased pay and financial security, taking illegal benefits damages public trust and departmental discipline. Administrative transfers or closures alone are not enough; transparent investigations and visible punitive actions are essential to curb such tendencies.

Khulna Range DIG Md. Rezaul Karim stated that the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy against corruption, drugs, and terrorism. Internal cleanup drives are underway in line with the Inspector General of Police's strict directives to restore discipline and public confidence.
