Leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its associate organizations, including its banned student wing Chhatra League, have been accused of inciting violence and exploiting the ongoing readymade garment (RMG) worker movement across several industrial zones.

Reliable security sources revealed that Chhatra League operatives are using the workers' wage agitation as a cover to organize violent sabotage. Several Chhatra League members have already been detained in connection with recent incidents of arson and clashes.

The allegations are backed by public posts on social media platforms, where various Chhatra League figures uploaded photos and videos documenting their direct participation in the protests. Sajibul Islam, Organizational Secretary of the Jagannath University unit of the banned Chhatra League, posted multiple videos and photos inciting agitators.

In one post on Sunday, Sajibul shared a photograph with the caption: "Bangladesh Awami League will not come to power relying on anyone else. We will issue programs backed by the power of the people."

Earlier on Saturday evening, he uploaded a video showing arson along a road while crowds chanted slogans demanding a Tk 30,000 minimum wage.

Escalating Violence and Key Arrests

The garment workers' agitation for a Tk 30,000 monthly minimum wage has intensified into widespread unrest, marked by street blockades, vandalism, and clashes with law enforcement.

Law enforcement agencies confirmed that 11 individuals, including leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliate bodies, have been arrested for orchestrating sabotage, vehicle arson, and property damage during the Mirpur clashes.

The Mirpur demonstrations led to a temporary shutdown of the Mirpur-10, Mirpur-11, and Pallabi metro stations on Sunday, November 1, after agitators set fire to a police vehicle under the Mirpur-11 station.

Meanwhile, fresh protests erupted in Gazipur's Kaliakair on Sunday morning as garment workers blockaded the Dhaka-Tangail highway. Protesters allegedly torched road barricades and vandalized local banks, vehicles, and commercial shops, halting highway traffic until Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) platoons were deployed to restore control.

The active online mobilization by banned political cadres alongside on-ground arrests has heightened concerns that external political elements are systematically diverting legitimate labor grievances to create public panic and national instability.
