The government has issued important safety and legal guidelines for around 3.5 million Bangladeshis working in Saudi Arabia, covering visa verification, employment contracts, iqama, salaries, job changes, financial transactions and workplace safety.
The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment published the advisory on Monday (November 2), urging workers to follow Saudi laws, avoid illegal financial transactions and keep their essential documents secure.
The ministry also advised workers not to carry unknown packages or medicines without proper authorisation and to follow restrictions on outdoor work during peak summer hours.
For assistance, workers can contact 911 for emergencies in major regions, 19911 for labour complaints, 16135 for the Probashi Bondhu call centre and 8001000125 for the Bangladesh Embassy's labour welfare service.
