Youth representatives and young workers across the globe have called for their concerns, experiences and demands to be reflected in climate policies and national position for COP31, saying that climate change, automation and the green transition are already affecting employment, workplace safety, skills and livelihoods.
They made the call at different consultation workshops in their respective countries before preparing the country’s Position Paper for COP31 focusing on the perspectives of youth organisations and young workers.
The youth have created a strong voice in UNCCC for several years and created a space to identify their challenges and develop recommendations for a just-centred transition.
To acknowledge the voice of the youth of South Asian countries, we have decided to publish some of their thoughts here for our
readers, gradually we will publish the thoughts of the global policy leaders along with the South Asian policy leaders in our next issue.
