Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said children’s talents and creativity will help build a strong and prosperous Bangladesh, urging them to develop skills in sports, arts, culture and foreign languages alongside academic studies.
He made the remarks while inaugurating the second season of ‘Notun Kuri Sports 2026-27’ at Khulna District Stadium on Thursday (November 5).
The Prime Minister said 1,623,218 children aged 10 to 14 had registered for the competition, which now features 10 sports disciplines, including newly added volleyball and table tennis. The final round is scheduled for June next year.
He also announced plans to give children the opportunity to learn a third foreign language alongside Bangla and English, allowing them to choose from six to seven languages.
The government will gradually expand facilities to help children pursue education, sports and cultural activities, he added.
