Bollywood actress Anupria Goenka has recalled two uncomfortable experiences involving co-actors while filming intimate scenes, highlighting the need for intimacy coordinators in the film industry.
In a recent interview, the actress, known for films including Padmaavat, Tiger Zinda Hai and War 2, said she faced situations in which her co-stars crossed professional boundaries during filming.
Recalling one incident, she said she felt uncomfortable while shooting a kissing scene as her co-actor appeared unable to maintain professional boundaries. The experience left her feeling humiliated, she said.
In another incident, she alleged that a co-actor placed his hand somewhere other than her waist during a scene in which holding her waist was required.
She said she had to guide his hand back to her waist and quietly explain where he should place it in the next take.
Goenka stressed that intimate scenes do not require excessive physical involvement and can be performed subtly while respecting an actor's boundaries.
Her account has renewed attention to the role of intimacy coordinators in ensuring consent, safety and professionalism during the filming of intimate scenes.
