Govt sets Tk 35kg for Aman paddy, Tk 49 for boiled rice

The government has fixed the procurement prices for the 2026 Aman season at Tk 35 per kilogram for paddy, Tk 49 for boiled rice and Tk 48 for non-boiled (Atap) rice.

The prices were finalised at a meeting of the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee at the Secretariat on Sunday (November 8), focusing on government procurement of paddy, rice and wheat.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Food Minister Afroza Khanam said the government would procure 300,000 metric tonnes of Aman paddy, 500,000 metric tonnes of boiled rice and 50,000 metric tonnes of Atap rice during the current 2026 Aman season.

Paddy procurement will begin on November 14 and continue until February 28, 2027, she said.

Meanwhile, procurement of Aman rice will start on December 1 and continue until February 28, 2027.
