Jesmin Ara Begum, Chief Judicial Magistrate of Dhaka on Wednesday   ordered the Jatiya Party parliament member AKM Selim Osman and his accomplice Apu to appear before it on May 14 in a case filed over public humiliation, defamation and assault of a school teacher Shyamal Kanti Bhakta of Narayanganj.
This was disclosed by Dhaka District Additional Public Prosecutor Anwarul Kabir Babul to the Daily Observer on Wednesday night over phone.
The order passed by the CJM after the court received the report from office of the Superintendent of Police of Narayanganj. The CJM court took into cognisance the probe report under Section 323, 355 and 500 of the Penal Code.
Sheikh Mohammad Hafizur Rahman Chief Metropolitan Magistrate conducted a judicial inquiry into the public humiliation of the veteran teacher in Narayanganj following a High Court order.
The High Court on August 9 last year rejected a police investigation report on the harassment of Shyamal Kanti Bhakta and ordered a judicial inquiry by CMM Sheikh Mohammad Hafizur Rahman.
After the inquiry the CMM sent a probe report to the High Court.  Later the High Court accepted the report and sent the case to CJM Jesmin Ara Begum for taking legal steps in this regard.
In the second week of May, a video clip went viral on the social media, showing how the headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Narayanganj was humiliated and forced to squat holding his ears in the presence of local Jatiya Party lawmaker AKM Salim Osman.
