The Bangladesh and Indian police agreed to curb militancy in the country.  A three-member team of the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrived in the city on Monday.
The team met with senior officials of the Bangladesh Police at the Police HQs. Officials of both the team agreed to work to curb militancy, officials told the Daily Observer on Monday.
The NIA team will also interrogate neo JMB leader Jahangir Alam alias Rajib Gandhi  and Sohel Mahfuz for their involvement in the Burdwan blast incident.
Mahfuz, , who played a key role in organising banned terror outfit JMB both in Bangladesh and India's West Bengal, was a most wanted militant in both the countries. Known as Nasrullah in Indian militant circle, he is said to be the Ameer of West Bengal unit of JMB.
On October 2 of 2014, two suspected Indian terrorists were killed and another was injured in an explosion at a house in Khagragarh locality of Burdwan district of West Bengal. Indian investigators suspect the JMB was linked to the incident and had a Rs10 lakh bounty on his head.
Sohel Mahfuz alias 'Haatkata' Mahfuz, who was captured by the police on July 8 in Chapainawabganj, is known to be capable of terrible misdeeds.
Sohel Mahfuz planned the Gulshan attack with its leaders Tamim Chowdhury and his relative Nurul Islam Marjan. Sohel Mahfuz is also the supplier of arms, which the terrorists used in the Holey Artisan Café attack.
