Indian teams interrogate militant Sohel

Indian National Investi-gation Agency (NIA) and Kolkata police special task force (STF) jointly interrogated Sohel Mahfuz on Tuesday for their involvement in Burdwan blast at Police headquarters in Dhaka.
The NIA and SFT teams also met Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) members and discussed over extending cooperation in countering extremists and swapped a list of suspected extremists hiding in each of the countries.
The high official would not like to disclose any information without permission from the court.  Both the counties discussed how they could share real-time intelligence to deal anti-extremist operations and Bangladesh urged India to check arms and explosive supply from India territory, officials said.
In the three-hour meeting at the police headquarters, the NIA team said Banned extremist outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh amir Salauddin Salehin was now in India and they were also trying to capture him.
On February 23, 2014, extremists intercepted a prison van, opened fire on police, killing a constable, and snatched away three including JMB chief Salauddin at Trishal of Mymensingh.
The three-member NIA team 'collected' information about militant Nasirullah alias Shohel Mahfuz in connection with Khagragarh blast in Burdwanunder Mutual Legal Assistance Requests in Criminal Matters just a week after his capture by Bangladesh police in northern Rajshahi district, Officials of counter terrorism unit said.
Shohel Mahfuz alias Nasirullah was also wanted by Indian National Investigation Agency over the explosion at Khagragarh under Burdwan.
