40th AGM of Bangla Academy held

The 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bangla Academy was held on Saturday at its premises.
The AGM of the academy began with the chorus of Satyen Sen cultural troupe directed by artiste Manzarul Islam Chowdhury.
Bangla Academy Director General Shamsuzzaman Khan presented the annual report of 2016-17 while its secretary Mohammad Anwar Hossain presented the annual budget of 2017-18.
Six prominent figures of the country were honoured with 'Bangla Academy Fellowship -2017' for their contributions to different sectors. Selected honorary Fellowship of 2017 are: Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury (Journalism), Pratibha Matsudi (Language Movement, Women's Leadership and Education and Social Service), Professor Dr. ABM Abdullah (medical research), Professor Ainun Nishat (water resources expert and educationist), Nurun Nabi (Literature on Liberation War), Hasan Shahriar (Journalism) and Dulal Talukder (Dance).
Bangla Academy President emeritus professor Anisuzzaman and Director General Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan handed over the prize and the award money, honorarium, honorarium and floral greetings in the hands of the fellows.    -UNB
