10 shanties gutted at Pallabi

At least 10 shanties were gutted in a fire at Kalshi Slum under Pallabi Police Station in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
The fire is believed to have originated at a nearby cap factory at around 2:40pm and soon engulfed the slum, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mainul Kabir of Pallabi Police Station. The fire also destroyed four small cap factories and one plastic godown, the OC added.
Being informed, fire fighting units rushed to the spot and put out the blaze around 4:30pm.
No casualty was reported in the fire incident while the extent of damage could not be ascertained as of filing of this report at 6:00pm.
