NSTU: A rising star in the firmament of technology

Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) has been progressing rapidly among many of the existing science and technology-based universities of the country. The university located in coastal district of Noakhali has been playing a leading role in the expansion of technology sector across the country as well as the introduction of multi-dimensional life in existence of its people.
Vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Wahiduzzaman of the university is conducting hands-on skill in developing NSTU as world-class educational institutions by infrastructurally with academically modern also. He believes that Noakhali Science and Technology University will be the most advanced university, the best university of this generation over the world. Since taking his office in June 2015 as Vice-chancellor, he has been working to carry forward the overall development work of NSTU. First of all to provide better education teachers with MS, PhD, M.Phil & Postdoctoral from foreign universities are being recruited here with the highest priority.
There are 225 teachers in total, among them 50 are higher degrees including PhD for teaching six thousand meritorious students. Academic activities are currently being functioned well with five faculties, 26 departments and two institutes. Higher education and research programs have been started nowadays with the government highest concern in the aim of how country resources can be utilized by coastal universities like NSTU, as part of this the Oceanography Department has been opened here.
To meet the present world demand, Software Engineering Department has opened here on priority basis for the development of education, information and technology sector. The Tourism and Hospitality Management Department has been launched to exploit the possibility of bright Bangladesh in the potential of tourism industry. Considering the general students' interest and their carrier in future Bangladesh, three new subjects have opened in this Uni named Bachelor of Education, Management Information Systems and Social Sciences Department. Prior to these some market based subject such as Computer Science and Telecommunication Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Library Science, ICE, ACCE & IIT are being taught here by following  a world-class course curriculumn.
In the current academic year (2017-18), one thousand two hundred & fifty nine students of 24 subjects got the chance to be enrolled in NSTU. It should be noted here that the biggest achievement of Noakhali Science and Technology University is that the admission process in this university is absolutely clear & it has been possible through the adoption of digital methods. All course curriculum of all subject have been arranged through the help of the current famed educationist, scientist & other professionist in their respective areas so that pupils from here can work with recognition at home and abroad with a world class higher degree. Students passed from NSTU are already employed in teaching profession of other public & private universities over the country .Students  o f this university are working in public sector with good reputation in governments foreign, agriculture, fisheries, education and other cadre services also. It would not be exaggerated to mention that the students of this university are working as engineers in the United States as member of the central team of international IT organizations like Microsoft at present. Moreover, students of NSTU are studying MS, PhD and Fellowship courses in all the renowned universities of America, Australia, Japan and Europe.
In view of the chances that students can get the best opportunity to study in more and more world acknowledged universities like South Bohemia of Czech Republic, Gladia Anglia Raskin, Sterling and the University of North Wales of United Kingdom NSTU authorities have introduced education coordination program with them. It is to be mentioned that a few days ago two students of NSTU have been nominated for 'Shakura Exchange Program in Science' for the University of Kumamoto, Japan. Along with academic success, the physical infrastructure development of the university has progressed a lot.
Extensive development works of tk 238 crore 48 lakh for the overall development of the university such as student classrooms, advanced multi-stored libraries, seminar rooms, reading rooms, WiFi and internet conveniences, canteens, transport services, two new additions to the existing three halls, construction and lab facilities have already been done. Besides, infrastructural development work including setting up of new buildings, establishment of ICT lab, setting up medical center, construction of mosques and places of worship are going on.  
According to prime minister announcement, that even a single land is not out of cultivation, the vacant land of NSTU has been brought under cultivation nowadays. As part of efforts to increase the physical development facilities, the construction work of building named Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman academic cam lab bhaban has begun, it will be the largest academic building in number of 4,38,782 square feet over the country. In addition construction work of 10 storied quarter with 80 modern flats for teachers and officials has also in progress.
Meanwhile, the construction work of a vast building with 80 flats for the staff was also taken. Recently a settlement of corporate house loan debt of tk 50 crore was signed between Agrani Bank and the university for the benefit of construction house, land and flat purchases as well of the teachers, officers & NSTU employees. As a result, there was no barrier to the loan taken by the members of the NSTU family. In addition to performing all the internal activities Noakhali Science and Technology University has taken the responsibilities and also the challenges ahead to the country's national security.
For instance when the north side of  the county is flooded Tk. 6 lakh including the equivalent amount of one day salary of teachers, officers and staffs of the university  was given for the sake of the unlucky flood affected persons to Prime Minister's relief fund as a help.  Not only that, with the help of Myanmar's oppressed ethnic Rohingya refugees, a 'relief fund co-ordination committee' has been formed in the university.
However, if we see the budget of  Noakhali science & Technology University for the fiscal year 2017-2018 was announced for 44 crore and 35 lakh taka. In the proposed budget, a maximum of 43 lakhs is allocated for the study & researches of teachers and its pupils. Several future projects have been undertaken to create a world-class university in the study, including 'Bangabandhu International Marine and Marine Resources Management Research Institute'. The institute will be established at 875 acres near the university and which will be the first in any single institute in the world where students and researchers will conduct research in marine science, marine resources, delta structure, environmental ecology and aerospace.
To make possible physical fitness as well as psychological development of current pupils, students from different residential halls have arranged various game and cultural programme in the NSTU premises. An assortment of social & cultural events were organized on campus by encouraging existing cultural committees.The public relations and publications office of NSTU has been given due importance to highlight the activities of the university and to create public opinion over the country.
As a result, public relations activities of the university have become more media-friendly (print and electronic) than ever before, understanding the importance of it the university authority is centrally sponsored for its development indeed.
NSTU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr M Wahiduzzaman said that the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working to fulfill this goal that our beloved country will be a developed and self-respecting Bangladesh by 2041. We are working closely with the successful implementation of the Prime Minister's portrait of constructing better Bangladesh for our generation. In the course of my four-year tenure, we will make the university a suitable & world-class educational institution for a modern and self-respecting Bangladesh.
