Bangabandhu-1, the country's first commercial satellite, requires about one and half months' tuning time and expecting to be sent into orbit on May 5.
Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmood disclosed the information on Wednesday saying that the satellite's testing that has already started will continue for next few days.
"After the successful tuning we can use the connectivity and capacity of the Bangabandhu-1 for commercial purposes," the BTRC Chairman said.
He said that Bangabandhu-1 will be ready for use in three months after the launch.
"Testing is moving in a good pace and all are so far positive," Mahmood told the reporters at his office.
Bangabandhu-1 is the first satellite of Bangladesh which was to be launched using vehicle SpaceX and Falcon-9 from the Cape Canaveral launch pad on December 16, 2017. The date was changed twice.
Echoing the BTRC Chairman, ICT Minister Musafa Jabbar said, "The date was confirmed from the launching station in Florida, however, this date is final and will not be changed further," the minister added.
However, the satellite left Thales Alenia Space's plant in Cannes on March 29 and reached American firm SpaceX USA. Preparations for countrywide celebrations centering the launch are already underway, he further said.
"We can use South Asian Satellite's capacity from next month," said BTRC chairman.
