Awami League is on the way to win victory by a huge margin in the 11th parliamentary polls held on Sunday, said AL Election Conduction Committee Co-chairman HT Imam in the evening.
However, the party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed the party men not to bring out any victory procession saying this is the time for building the country, not jubilation.
After completion of voting and during the counting of votes, HT Imam was addressing a press briefing at the AL headquarters at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
He said the election was held in a free, fair and impartial manner and it was all-inclusive elections.
The Prime Minister's Political Affairs Adviser said BNP men were seen nowhere, which was a part of their strategy to make the elections questionable.
However, the people thronged the polling centres and cast their votes with pleasure.
If the BNP men were in the fields, they may get more votes, he said.
HT Imam instructed the AL men to leave the polling stations after the signing of results by Returning Officers.
In the press briefing, Prime Minister's Economic Adviser Mashiur Rahman, AL Election Conduction Committee Member Dr Selim Mahmud, among others, were present.
