Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) celebrated the 157th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore amid 3 parts at the university premises on 8 May on Tuesday.
The first part of the programme was a seminar named "Rabindra Literature in Film" presented by Tuhinur Rahman, Head of the department of Film and Media studies, was held in the conference room while Prof Dr AHM Mustafizur Rahman, vice-chancellor of the university, presided over the function. As a chief guest Selina Hossain, renowned lyricist and Prof Dr Lutfor Rahman of Jahangirnagar University, were present as keynote speaker while Prof Dr Zahidul Kabir delivered a welcome speech.
Lecturer Mazharul Hossain Tokder conducted the seminar.
In the afternoon, a discussion was held at the open stage' Gahi Samyer Gan while vice-chancellor of the university chaired it and Selina Hossain was as chief guest as well. Prof Dr Musharrat Shabnam was as special guest.
In the evening at the same stage, a fascinated cultural programme was held while students of Music Department sang Tagore's Song directed by Assistant Prof. Ahmed Shakil Hashmi and Indrani Karmaker. Samia Sultana (Nirmi Mou), teacher of BAFA conducted dances. At last, Films were exhibited by Film and Media Studies Department.
In the day long programme, deans, teachers, journalists, students, officers enjoyed the function.
