6kg gun powder seized in C'nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Dec 30: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 5.80 kilograms of gun powder in an abandoned condition from Shyampur field near Wahedpur BOP in Shibganj Upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.  BGB, however, could not arrest anybody in this connection.
BGB-53 Battalion Commander Sazzad Sarwar, PSC, told journalists on Saturday evening that a BGB patrol team chased a smuggler who entered Bangladesh from India through border. Sensing BGB' presence, the smuggler fled away, leaving a bag. Later, BGB searched inside the bag and seized the gun powder.
