AL, CPC to ink MoU to work for wellbeing of masses

Awami League (AL) and Communist Party of China (CPC) will ink a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today (Thursday) to work together for the wellbeing of masses of the two countries.
AL Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak and CPC's Central Committee's leader and also the Minister of International Department of Communist Party Song Tao will sign the MoU on behalf of their Party at Prime Minister Office tonight. Awami League President the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will witness the signing.

The people of China and Bangladesh have been good neighbours and friends since ancient times. Stories of our friendship and exchange witnessed by the Southern Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road throughout the millennia are still being told today. Eminent Chinese monks Faxian and Xuanzang travelled west for Buddhist scriptures. Atis Dipankara Shrijnana, a Bengali religious master, spread Buddhism in China.

Following the Chinese President Xi Jinping Bangladesh visit in 2016, both the country have signed a number of cooperative deals with Bangladesh regarding the Belt and Road Initiative, proposed by Xi in 2013, which focuses on improving infrastructure and boosting interconnection. Earlier, several Awami League delegations visited China in the last two years at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.

Last October  Awami League Presidium Member Lt Col (Retd) Faruq Khan led a delegation, during the visit, the delegation met ministers of the Chinese government and senior leaders of the CPC. They (delegation) will also visited important development projects of the Chinese government.
