Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will meet with India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 8 in New Delhi on her way back home after wrapping up her tri-nation visit to Japan, Saudi Arabia and Finland.
"It is likely to have a "goodwill exchange" between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi during her brief stay in New Delhi," according to a Foreign Ministry source.
"Prime Minister is likely to visit UK also, however, it is in premature shape, we need to wait further to see the progress," the official said.
The Prime Minister leaves Dhaka today (Tuesday) for Tokyo from where she will go to Saudi Arabia. On June 3, she will depart Jeddah for Helsinki, Finland via Frankfurt and will reach at Helsinki at 1 pm (local time).
"Minister Sheikh Hasina has planned to make a 12-hour stopover in New Delhi on June 8 and meet Modi and express hope that the two neighbours would continue to work sincerely and solve any problem through bilateral discussions," he added.
"Sheikh Hasina has congratulated him (Modi) as he was elected for the second time as the Indian Prime Minister on behalf of the Government and people of Bangladesh," according to the Prime Minister's Office. Earlier, Hasina telephoned the BJP leader and congratulated him for his landslide victory.
She will invite Modi to visit Bangladesh at his earliest convenient date and conveyed her government's desire to carry forward the bilateral relations
and try to solve all contentious issues through dialogue, Foreign Ministry sources said.
She will land at Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport at 6:05 am (local time) on June 8, according to her tour schedule.
Hasina will leave Delhi for Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 6:20 pm (local time) and arrive here at 9:20 pm (local time).
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi pledged to continue to raise the relationship between the two countries to an "unprecedented new height."
They underscored the importance of rapidly completing ongoing plans for deepening the partnership in security trade, transportation, energy and people-to-people ties.
The leaders also agreed to identify dates for a meeting at the earliest to resume work in service of the bilateral relationship.
