Bangladesh’s last hope goes awry  

Bangladesh ended their World Cup mission accompanying a 94-run trounce against Pakistan in the game of prestige on Friday at the Home of Cricket, Lord's.
Tigers in their secondary kit made two changes to bring in Mahmudullah Riyad and Mehedi Miraz in the squad and hence rested Sabbir Rahman and Rubel Hossain.  
Mashrafe lost his last World Cup toss choosing tail side of the coin that Pakistan skipper threw.  Pakistan preferred to bat first and were posted a fetching total of 315 for nine from stipulated 50 overs after thankful ton from opener Imam-ul-Haque and 96 runs from Babar Azam. Mohammad Saifuddin gave Bangladesh early breakthrough by picking up Fakhar Zaman's wicket in the eighth over of the innings when Pakistan managed 23 runs only. But dominating 152-run second wicket partnership between Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haque shoved Pakistan upper stance before Mustafiz magic began.
The cutter master Mustafiz picked up his second successive fifer in the tournament to destroy Pakistan middle order. He got the wickets of Haris Sohail, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Mohammad
Amir after Imam-ul-Haque. He spent 75 runs to purchase the five-for. The pace sensation hauled five wickets against India as well in the previous match of the World Cup in progress. With yesterday's five preys the Fizz became the second leading wicket taker of the tournament with 20 scalps. Australian speed star Mitchell Starc is the leading wicket taker having 24 hunts next to his name. Beside Mustafiz, Saifuddin took three wickets for Bangladesh.
Pakistan got interesting mathematics to qualify in the semifinals. They needed to bowl out Bangladesh for seven runs!  However, they got early success from Mohammad Amir. Soumya Sarkar gave flat catch to Fakhar Zaman at point scoring 22 runs as Bangladesh lost their first wicket to post 26 runs on the board only. Tamim Iqbal continues his desolation. He departed 22 yards scoring eight runs only from 21 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das got start but failed to prolong the innings. They went to the dugout for 16 and 32 runs respectively.  The lone Tiger roared against every opponent throughout the tournament Shakib Al Hasan once again hit a half century to become the leading scorer of the tournament so far with 606 runs. Shakib scored 64 before becoming victim to Shaheen Afridi. This is his fifth half century in the ongoing World Cup backed by twin tons. Shakib is undoubtedly one of the top claimants of Player of the Tournament award. 41 was the lowest among eight Shakib's batting innings.
Bangladesh started to lose wickets in regular interval and were bowled out for 221 to concede a 94-run defeat with 35 balls to spare. Shaheen Afridi grasped six wickets.
