At least four people who were abducted by some unidentified people are still missing. The missing people are Ataur Rahman Shahin, an IT professional, sacked army officer Lt Col Hasinur Rahman, an engineer Kamrul Islam and Ishrak Ahmed Fahim, 19, a student at McGill University in Canada.
Ataur Rahman Shahin, an IT professional, who was abducted by some unidentified men last month is still missing. He was allegedly abducted by unidentified people from near his office in Tejgaon Industrial Area in the evening of May 2.
Tashdeed Aan Nafee, nine-year-old son of missing Shahin, on Wednesday pleaded to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her direction on the authorities concerned to take necessary steps for returning his father.
"Please bring back my father to me. He has been missing for two months," said Nafee, a student of Class-IV at European Standard School in Dhaka's Mirpur.
The family members of Shahin talked to journalists at a press briefing held at Sagar-Runi Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters' Unity in the capital on Wednesday morning.
Addressing the briefing, Shahin's pregnant wife Tania Akhtar said her husband was abducted by unidentified people from near his office in Tejgaon Industrial Area on May 2 evening. According to Tejgaon Police Station, a General Diary (GC) has been registered in this regard. We found in the footage that a white colour microbus with its black window shields has picked up Shahin after he came out of the office at 8:30pm."
The family of sacked army officer Hasinur Rahman alleged that people posing as policemen have whisked him away from in front of his home at Mirpur DOHS in the capital.
Hasinur, who had worked as commander of the Rapid Action Battalion-5 and RAB-7, was jailed for five years for sedition and freed in 2014.
People wearing Detective Branch of police jackets picked Hasinur up from Pallabi around 10:00pm just after he left home to visit a friend, his brother-in-law Wakil Ahmed said. Wakil said he was 'almost certain' that the people were police detectives.
Hasinur was at the Army Training and Doctrine Command when he lost his job after being charged with sedition. He had also worked at the Border Guard Bangladesh.
His alleged disappearance comes three days after photographer-activist Shahidul Alam was taken from his home by law enforcers.
A Canadian student of Bangladesh origin has been missing from the capital's Dhanmondi since 2017. Ishrak Ahmed Fahim, 19, a student at McGill University in Canada, came to Bangladesh on a visit.
Family members suspected Ishrak might have been abducted on way to their Dhanmondi residence from near the Star Kebab and Restaurant.
Another person, Kamrul Islam is missing from Uttara since last year. A senior police high official told the Daily Observer that they were working to find out the whereabouts of the missing persons.
