Sabuj Islam, a former leader of Bagha Upazila unit BCL, on Thursday filed a case against acting president of the same unit Sohanur Rahman Sohag in this connection.
Police said Sabuj along with his wife and children was returning home from in-laws at Habaspur village in the upazila by a private car on Wednesday night.
During this, Sohag along with his co-workers was going to home at Tulshipur village by two motorcycles.
In Chhatari area, Sabuj and Sohag locked into an altercation over making high-low of the former's car.
Later, Sohag and his supproters attacked Sabuj in Tulshi area and beat up, leaving him severely injured.
Being informed, police and locals Awami League leaders rescued Sabuj and took to hospital, police said.
Asked Sohag, he said Sabuj tried to ram his motorcycle in Chhatari area to kill him. That is why Sabuj fell to the rage of local people.
Meanwhile, Sabuj said he was making light high and low of the car in his necessity that angered Sohag and he scolded him, creating an altercation. Following this, he was beaten up.
Bagha Police Station inspector (investigation) Abdul Wahab said a case was filed by Sabuj. They will take legal measure after conducting investigation.
