A man was hacked to death allegedly by his rivals in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi district on Sunday night.
Deceased Sohel Rana, 35, was the son of Ansar Mirza, a resident of Dakshin Jamira village in the upazila.
Belpukur Union Parishad Chairman Badiuzzaman said a quarrel took place between Sohel and his co-villager Saiful over buying paddy seedlings in the afternoon.
As a sequel to the quarrel, Saiful along with two-three men hacked Sohel indiscriminately at his shop around 10:30 pm, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued Sohel and took him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Deceased's father lodged a case with Belpukur Police Station, said the police station OC Sheikh Golam Mostafa, adding that police arrested Najibul and Faruque in this connection.
