Schoolgirl 'commits suicide'

A schoolgirl reportedly committed suicide by taking poison in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district on Thursday morning.  
Deceased Farhana Khatun Diya is a ninth grader at Basudeb Girls School. She was the daughter of Md Nurul Huda, a resident of Uttar Basudebpur Telipara village in the upazila.  

Family members said Diya went to a coaching centre in the village this morning. She fell sick there around 7:30 am.

Later, she was taken to Chapanwabagnj Sadr Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

The hospital authority said she died due to drinking poison.

Locals assumed that Diya might have committed suicide following a quarrel with her parents at night.

The body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue, said Hasmat Ali, officer in-charge (invsetigation) of Godagari Model Police Station.
