A High-level 20-member delegation of Bangladesh Awami League leaves for China today (Wednesday) at the invitation of Communist Party of China (CPC). AL Presidium Member and Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Matin Khasru will lead the delegation. To address the Rohingya crisis through using multi-dimensional approach, the ruling party Awami League (AL) will seek support from the Communist Party of China once again as it is the highest forum of the Chinese government, which takes critical political decisions at different times. AL has sent several delegations to China in last five months following the signing on Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh Awami League and Communist Party of China (CPC) in March 2019 on boosting cooperation between the two parties that yielded little fruits. Earlier, a three-member team led by former ambassador Muhammad Zamir visited China on November 30, 2017. A 19-member team led by Lieutenant Colonel (retd) Faruq Khan visited China on September 18, 2017. On October 28, 2018, a team of Awami League led by Presidium Member Lt Col (retd) Faruq Khan once again visited China for the same purpose. "This initiative is good, it's called track-II diplomacy, yes we need Chinese government's help to address Rohingya crisis as China is a great strategic partner of Myanmar," former ambassador Muhammad Zamir said. "We think that the Rohingya crisis can be solved smoothly if China mounts pressure on Myanmar to take back its citizens," Abdul Matin Khasru, Awami League Presidium Member made the statement on Monday while introducing the 20-member delegation to the media. He said, "We'll request the CPC leaders so that China put pressure on Myanmar and thus Myanmar takes back their own Rohingya nationals to their country," he added. Khasru told media that they want to apprise the Chinese leaders that hosting around 11 lakh Rohingyas in Cox's Bazar is a very big pressure on Bangladesh and the country can't afford the load anymore. Apart from meeting the leaders of CPC and International Department of CPC, he said the AL delegation would also take part in a seminar with CPC party school on good governance and seminar and discussion with CPC party school on poverty alleviation.
