Anwara and Ranjit Mallick receive lifetime achievement award at BBFA

The first ever 'Bharat-Bangladesh Film Award (BBFA)' took place at Navaratri Hall of 'International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB)' on October 21. Along with noted Indian actor Ranjit Mallick, eminent Bengali actor Anwara received a lifetime achievement award at the event. Filmmaker Goutam Ghosh handed over the award to Anwara on the occasion. On the other hand, Ranjit Mallick received his award from another noted actor Prosenjit Chatterjee.

Number of film stars and film professionals from both Bangladesh and India joined the gala event with their eye catching appearances. Awards were given under several categories- best film, best producer, best actor and actress, best co-actor and co-actress, best music, the best musician (male and female), popular film of the year, popular actor and actress of the year, life time achievement, best screenplay, best producer and best editor. Two artistes, one from Bangladesh and another from India, were selected for each award. Popular actor Alamgir Hossain, actress Sarah Begum Kabori, novelist and editor of daily Kaler Kantho Imdadul Haq Milan, Film Producers' Association president Khorshed Alam Khasru and film producer Hasibur Reza Kallol from Bangladesh graced the jury board of the event along with other jury members from India namely Goutam Ghosh, actor cum director Bratya Basu, actress Tanushree Chakraborty.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud, State Minister of Information, was the chief guest of the event. Other guests were Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, chairman of Bashundhara Group, Naem Nizam, editor of Bangladesh Protidin, Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, chairman and managing director of ATN Bangla, Firdausul Hasan, President of Film Federation of India (FFI) and Tapan Roy, co-ordinator of BBFA.

The event was jointly organised by Film Federation of India (FFI) and Bangladesh's Bashundhara Group in association with a production house named 'TM Films'. 'Zee Bangla' and 'East West Media group' were the broadcast partners of the event. Media partners were 'ATN Bangla' and 'Gaan Bangla'. And the event partner was 'One More Zero'.
