The High Court on Tuesday issued a rule asking as to why the condition for a married female applicant to mention her husband’s permanent address as her permanent address in the job circular of Bangladesh Bank should not be declared illegal.

An HC bench of Justices JBM Hasan and Md Khairul Alam issued the rule after hearing on two writ petitions filed by Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust and Naripakkha.

The HC also asked the public administration secretary, the commerce secretary, the finance secretary, the Bangladesh Bank deputy governor and the director of its human resource department to give their reply within four weeks.

During the hearing, advocate Ainunnahar stood for the petitioners while attorney general Mahbubey Alam for the state.

Advocate Ainunnahar said, “Bangladesh Bank in its job circular published on December 1 put the condition for a married female applicant to mention her husband’s address as her own address. This condition is against constitution.”
