The government has extended the ongoing nationwide lockdown for one more week.

The Cabinet Division on Sunday issued a gazette notification extending the lockdown till May 30 midnight.

All kinds of public transports including inter-district buses have been allowed to operate carrying passengers with 50 per cent of their capacity maintaining coronavirus health guidelines. But face masks are mandatory for all passengers, drivers and their assistants.

Besides, the restaurants are also allowed to reopen keeping 50 per cent of their seat vacant.

Twenty-eight pairs of trains will run from Monday across the country.

The authorities concerned have been asked to keep half of the train seat vacant for ensuring social distance. Passengers can purchase train tickets through online.

The government imposed restriction on public movement from April 5 to tackle a second wave of COVID infections during which confirmed cases rose past 7,000 with more than 100 deaths in daily counts.
