Sexual assault of Bangladeshi girl in India: 6 held

Indian police have arrested six persons, including a Bangladesh national, over sexual assault of a young Bangladeshi girl in Kerala state.

DMP's Tejgaon Division Deputy Police Commissioner Md Shahidullah confirmed the matter on Friday.

Among the arrested persons, Rifatul Islam Hridoy alias Tiktok Hridoy Babu is a resident of Dhaka's Hatirjjheel area.

A video of rape and horrific torture of the young woman that took place in Kerala about 15 to 16 days ago was circulated on social media.

In the viral video, five people including a woman were seen slapping and torturing the young woman. They, also violated her and the victim was seen crying for help.

DC Shahidullah said they came to know about the arrest after contacting Kerala police.

A team of DMP started investigation after the video went viral on social media.

However, the law enforcers managed to identify one of the culprits seen in the video as Hridoy Babu from his Facebook profile.

Later, his parents confirmed the matter and said they drove him away from home for his unruly behaviour and he has no contact with them since then.

Meanwhile, the victim's father has identified his daughter who went missing for a year and filed a case with Hatirjheel Police under the Prevention of Human Trafficking Act. Another case has been filed under Pornography Control Act .

Police suspect Hridoy and his associates are members of a human trafficking syndicate and they all are Bangladeshi nationals, said DC Shahidul.

However, police are trying to bring back the victim and her assaulters, the DMP official added.MUS
