Victim alleges attack, looting by UP member

The victim of a family on Saturday alleged an union parishad member of attacking one of her family members and looting at house at Sreenagar upazila in Munshiganj district.

Victim Jhulekha Begum, a resident of Baghra area, made the allegation at a press conference held at Crime Reporters' Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in Dhaka.
In the press conference, the victim said, "On December 10, Baghra union parishad member Abdus Salam along with others broke open the door of my house when I went to visit my grandchild at night. They looted about Tk 3.5lakh in cash and gold ornament from the house at that time."

"They stabbed my niece Lima when she along with her father tried to stop them, and fled the scene," she added.

The victim also claimed that Srinagar Police Station did not allow them to file any case in this regard.

However, UP member denied the allegations and said  Mojibur, brother of the victim, and Ashraf Ali have family feud. "I went there to solve the feud among them. However, Mojibur's sister brought false allegations against me."

When Observer correspondent contacted, the police station OC Aminul Islam did not receive the phone call.
