Mymensingh-3: Voting at one suspended centre on Saturday

The voting in Bhalukapur Government Primary School Center of Mymensingh-3 (Gouripur) Constituency, which was postponed due to ballot tampering, will be held on Saturday amid tight security.

Assistant Returning Officer and Gouripur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nahidul Karim said, "The administration have taken adequate preparations for voting in the postponed Bhalukapur centre. At least 12 CCTV cameras have already been installed and a large number of law enforcers have been deployed in the center for security purposes."

The voting will be started at 8am and continued until 4pm, he said adding that the voters will be able to exercise their voting rights without any hindrance.

On the polls day (January 7), the local administration suspended voting at Bhalukpur High School centre in Shabanhati of Gouripur upazila due to election irregularities.

Later, the Election Commission fixed January 13 as the date of the election.

In this constituency, the Awami League nominated candidate Nilufar Anjum bagged 53,196 votes, while her nearest rival, Somnath Saha with the Truck symbol, received 52,211 votes.

Apart from them, a total of nine candidates are competing in this constituency.
