Reserved seat polls scheduled Tuesday

The polling schedule for reserved seats in parliament will be announced on Tuesday Feb 6, Election Commission (EC) Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath has said.

The EC will hold a meeting on the polls schedule at 11am on Tuesday, presided over by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal. The schedule will be announced after the meeting.

Ashok said that with the support of independent MPs, the ruling Awami League will field 48 candidates in the reserved seats for women. The Awami League has 223 members of parliament and two in the alliance. In all, 48 of the 50 reserved seats will go to the Awami League.
