JnU student Khadija acquitted from DSA case too

A tribunal in Dhaka on Thursday acquitted Jagannath University (JnU) student Khadijatul Kubra from a case filed with New Market Police Station under the Digital Security Act (DSA).

Now, she is acquitted from the two cases filed against her.

After hearing, Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge AM Zulfikar Hayat relieved her from the case charge as the Judge found no element to form the charges.

The Judge also ordered to investigate allegation against Mej (retd) Delwar Hossain, another accused in the case.

On January 28, the same tribunal acquitted Khadija in another case filed with Kolabagan Police Station.

Khadijatul Kubra, a student of Political Science at Jagannath University, was arrested on August 27 after police pressed charges against her in two cases filed two years ago. After that, she is in jail as per the court order.

The student has already been denied bail many times.

Kalabagan and New Market police themselves filed the cases on October 11 and October 19, 2020. The student was actually 17 in 2020.

Her crime was hosting a Facebook webinar where a guest speaker made contentious remarks.
