The size of the cabinet is expanding as some new faces are going to be added to it led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The new ministers and state ministers are scheduled to take oath at 7:30pm on Friday, said sources at Bangabhaban. President Mohammed Shahabuddin will administer oath to the new cabinet members.
However, it could not be known how many new members are going to be added to the new cabinet.
Sources said 8 to 10 new ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers are likely to be accommodated to the new cabinet. Ten cars have been prepared for them. They will go to Bangabhaban this evening boarding those cars.
When asked about it, Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain told reporters at the secretariat on Thursday that he was not in a state to make any comment regarding the size of the cabinet. He would disclose all the details sometimes later.
The 37-member cabinet was formed on January 11 after the 12th parliamentary elections on January 7. However, the size of the cabinet has been smaller compared to previous cabinets. Since then there has been continued talks that the cabinet would be expanded after the election of MPs for reserved seats of women.
The ruling Awami League nominated 48 candidates for the reserved seats for women while the Jatiya Party, the opposition in parliament, gave nominations to the two remaining seats.
All 50 MPs won unopposed as there were no competitors.
Apart from the prime minister, there are 25 full ministers and 11 state ministers in the current cabinet. There is no deputy minister in the 37-member cabinet.
