Another victim dies, death toll now 45

The death toll in the devastating fire that broke out at a building on Bailey Road in the capital on Thursday night rose to 45 after another injured died at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday morning.

The victim identified as Jewel, 30, died around 7am while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). 

Mostafa Abdullah Al Noor, (Nezarat) Deputy Collector (NDC) in Dhaka, with the death, the death toll from the fire rose to 45.

Jewel was brought to the hospital injured shortly after the fire broke out at the building, he added.

The death toll from the blazing inferno kept climbing through the night, and is likely to rise further.
Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen confirmed the figure to reporters early Friday. He said 34 dead at the DMCH, 10 at Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute and one at Central Police Hospital.
