Bangladesh Meteorological Department has said there is a risk of depression in the sea after May 20 that can become a cyclone if it gets stronger.

Meteorologist Dr. Muhammad Abul Kalam Mallik on Thursday said it was observed that a cyclone may form in the South Bay of Bengal.

A Hindustan Times report says cyclone 'Remal', named by Oman, may head towards land from May 24 but it is too early to predict its strength.

The report claimed that the cyclone may have formed on May 20 in the Bay and move towards the north after gathering strength. It is expected to make landfall around evening on May 25 in either West Bengal or Bangladesh’s south.
