
Sreemoye Basak, a sixth grader of Central High School in Pabna, was awarded first prize in Bangladesh Arts Olympiad-2024.
She was declared first at the closing ceremony of the two-day exhibition organized by Super Kids Initiatives, a platform that works for child education, at Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts in Uttar Badda of Dhaka city on May 24-25.
Her artwork depicted a scene of a football match where Bangladesh women football team is seen playing against India.
A total of 50 artworks, out of about 700 submissions, were selected at the exhibition. Children, aged between 8 and 12 years, were eligible for the primary submission.
Of those, five artworks were announced to represent Bangladesh on the global stage in 7th Arts Olympiad scheduled to be held in the United States in June, 2025.
Hosted by Washington-based International Child Art Foundation, a distinguished panel of judges will select the global winners at the international event. The winners will be invited as Official Delegates representing their school communities.
Md Hamim-uz-Zaman of Bogura was declared second for his artwork portraying a cricket match. Prarthana Mondal of Dhaka won the third prize for drawing a boat race. Dinajpurs Arisa Hossain and Dhakas Ahnaf Ohi Tajdid secured fourth and fifth positions respectively.
"We are glad that we pulled off the long process of the competition, selection and exhibition. Our winners will represent Bangladesh in the main event in 2025. Its very much exciting. I wish them Good Luck", said Tanzil Hasan, founder and CEO of Super Kids Initiatives.
