Mintoo elected chairman, Moazzem vice chairman of National Bank

Sponsor Directors Abdul Awal Mintoo and Moazzem Hossain have been unanimously elected as the Chairman and Vice Chairman of National Bank Limited, respectively. 

The election took place during 505th Board of Directors meeting held on Thursday.

This leadership change follows the dissolution of the previous Board of Directors by Bangladesh Bank on August 20, 2024. The new board was formed under the 'Bank-Company Act, 1991 (Amended up to 2023)', as stated in a press release.

Abdul Awal Mintoo, a prominent industrialist and business leader, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He is a former President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and serves as the Chairman of several companies, including Lal Teer Seed Limited, North South Seed Limited, and Pragati Life Insurance Limited. Additionally, Mintoo advises various organizations such as Heidelberg Cement Bangladesh Limited, Bangladesh Petrochemical Company Limited, Multimode Textile Mills Limited, and Multisourcing Limited.

Moazzem Hossain, a successful entrepreneur and one of the sponsor directors and former chairman of National Bank Limited, will serve as the Vice Chairman. Hossain is the founder of Hosaf Group of Companies, one of the first businesses in Bangladesh to expand both domestically and internationally. He also holds significant positions as the Chairman of Hosaf Group of Companies, former Chairman of Pragati Insurance Company Limited, President of Bangladesh Energy Companies Association, Vice President of BGMEA, and Chairman of Presidency University.
