Bangladesh U-20 national
football team has taken a crucial lead against the host
Nepal in the final of
SAFF U-20 Championship at ANFA Complex in Kathmandu, Nepal on Wednesday.
Despite Nepal's dominance during the first half, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities due to a combination of forward inefficiency and solid performance of Bangladesh's goalkeeper.
During that time, Bangladesh's Mirajul Islam scored a decisive goal with a brilliant free-kick, giving the team the edge going into the break.
Shortly before the halftime whistle, Bangladesh was awarded a free-kick just outside the box after Mirajul Islam was fouled while attempting to make a run. Mirajul took the free-kick, and his powerful shot ricocheted off the post and into Nepal's net.
