Adviser to the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Asif Nazrul, has expressed his hope that prominent Bangladesh star allrounder Shakib Al Hasan will not face arrest, despite the murder case lodged against him.

The adviser made the remarks while speaking to journalists at his office in the Secretariat on Wednesday.

The murder charges against Shakib Al Hasan have generated significant debate both within Bangladesh and abroad. When asked for his opinion, Nazrul stated, "Awami League initiated this kind of practice. Shakib hasn't contributed anything to the state of Bangladesh; his achievements are personal. Aminul, the footballer, won accolades for Bangladesh and even captained the national team. Did anyone raise concerns when Aminul was persecuted? He was imprisoned, while Shakib only faces a case."

Nazrul further explained, "This issue falls under the jurisdiction of the police. We've shared as much information as possible. A filed case doesn't automatically result in an arrest. I trust that the Ministry of Home Affairs will act to prevent any unnecessary zeal in making an arrest."

He added, "I sincerely hope Shakib will not be detained. From what I understand, the police have received specific instructions."
