Litton Das played a remarkable knock of 138, helping Bangladesh to post 262 in response to Pakistan's 274 in the second Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The hosts took a slender 12-run lead, thanks to Litton's fourth Test century, which included 13 boundaries and four sixes.
In the meantime, when Pakistan openers went to the field to increase the lead, Bangladesh right arm fast medium bowler Hasan Mahmud strike twice which left Pakistan crumble on 9/2.
Earlier, Bangladesh found themselves in deep trouble at 26-6 after a devastating spell by Khurram Shahzad, who claimed six wickets (6-90), and support from Salman Agha and Mir Hamza.
However, Litton and Mehidy Hasan Miraz rescued the team with a vital 167-run partnership. Miraz contributed a solid 78 runs before Khurram broke the stand by dismissing him with a return catch.
Earlier in the day, Khurram and Hamza had rattled the Bangladeshi top order, reducing them to 26-6 in the first session. Bangladesh's overnight batters, Shadman Islam (10) and Zakir Hasan (1), were quickly dismissed, followed by skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto (1) and Mominul Haque, as the team collapsed under pressure.
First Test centurion Mushfiqur Rahim (3) and Shakib Al Hasan (10) also fell cheaply, leaving Bangladesh in dire straits before Litton's heroic innings saved the day.
On the previous day, Miraz's five-wicket haul had helped Bangladesh bowl out Pakistan for 274, after the first day's play was washed out due to rain.
