Bangladesh ambassador to China Md Jashim Uddin is going to take over charge as new foreign secretary on Monday (September 2).
On Sunday (September 1), foreign secretary Masud Bin Momen resigned from his post after his contractual appointment was cancelled. Now, Ambassador Md Jashim Uddin is going to be appointed as new foreign secretary.
Md Jashim Uddin joined the Foreign Service cadre as an officer belonging to the 13th batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS). He also served as the ambassador to Qatar.
Besides, he worked in different positions at Tokyo, New Delhi, Washington DC and Islamabad missions.
Jashim Uddin obtained Bachelor in Social Science (Honours) and Masters in Social Sciences in International Relations from the University of Dhaka.
He also obtained MA degre from Modern International Studies from University of Leeds, UK. Besides, he completed ndc course with distinction from National Defence College.
It may be recalled that an interim goverment led by Professor Dr Yunus came to powerr on August 8 after the mass uprising of students and people on August 5. Following it, a major reshuffle took place at different ministries and divisions of the government. Accordingly, reshuffle has taken place in the foreign secretary post.
