Hasan makes history claiming 5-wicket haul against Pakistan

Hasan Mahmud has etched his name in Bangladesh cricket history as the first fast-bowler from the country to take a five-wicket haul against Pakistan in Test cricket. Achieving this milestone on the fourth day of the second Test in Rawalpindi, Hasan secured figures of 5-43.

The 24-year-old, who had only two previous Test matches under his belt, delivered a standout performance by dismissing Mohammad Rizwan, who had scored 43 and was part of a crucial 55-run partnership with Agha Salman. Hasan quickly followed up by removing Mohammad Ali and Mir Hamza, sealing Pakistan’s innings and setting Bangladesh a target of 185 runs to clinch the series.

While Bangladeshi spinners have previously claimed five-wicket hauls against Pakistan, Hasan's feat is unique among pacers. His figures of 5-43 are the best by a Bangladeshi fast-bowler in any format against Pakistan, surpassing Mustafizur Rahman’s 5-75 during the 2019 ICC World Cup.
