Nahid congratulates Bangladesh team for gold at IOI 2024

Advisor to the interim government for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology M Nahid Islam has congratulated Bangladesh team for winning a gold medal at International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2024.

Debojoti Das Soumya, a 12th grader from Jalalabad Cantonment College in Sylhet, made history by becoming the first Bangladeshi to win gold at the prestigious global competition for high school students.
According to Thursday's results, Debojoti secured the top prize, marking Bangladesh's first IOI gold since the country's participation began in 2004. Additionally, Jarif Rahman and Akib Azmain Turja earned bronze medals.

"The remarkable achievement of these talented Bangladeshi youths has elevated the nation's stature internationally," said Nahid. "Their success proves that our young generation is both skilled and forward-thinking in the field of Information Technology," he added, expressing his desire to meet the winning team.

The IOI is a globally recognized computer science competition where participants solve complex programming challenges, earning them a reputation as the world's brightest young computer scientists.
