Miraz aims for consistency to follow in Shakib's footsteps

Bangladesh allrounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has expressed his ambition to become one of the best allrounders in the world, following in the footsteps of Shakib Al Hasan. 

Miraz emphasized the importance of playing well consistently over time to achieve this goal. 

With Shakib nearing the twilight of his career, Miraz has emerged as a potential successor, thanks to his recent improvement, especially with the bat.

Once considered primarily a bowler, Miraz has worked hard to strengthen his batting. His standout performance against Pakistan, contributing with both bat and ball, drew comparisons to Shakib's prime. However, Miraz knows that consistency is key to reaching the top.

"It's not possible to become the best allrounder in a day or two. I need to play well over a long period," Miraz said after a team practice session. He highlighted the benefits of having two allrounders in a team and expressed his desire to continue improving, particularly in the batting order. 

While his strength has always been bowling, Miraz has excelled at No.8 in recent years, but he is eager to move up the order. "I want to be a top-order batter, not just the best at No.8," he added.

Shakib, who has held the top spot in ICC allrounder rankings across all formats, is nearing the end of his career. Miraz is poised to take on a greater role, saying, "When Shakib bhai retires, my responsibilities will increase."
